Ms. Marjukka Porvari has led marine protection activities of the Finnish John Nurminen Foundation since 2005 when the Foundation started its environmental work. The Foundation has launched over 40 projects to improve the state of the sea with targeted and tangible measures. With these measures, the eutrophying nutrient load to the Gulf of Finland has been reduced by over 60%. Ms. Porvari leads a marine protection team of seven. Prior to her current work, Ms. Porvari worked with international environmental consultancy assignments, environmental policy development and environmental economics at the Finnish Environment Institute. She has studied environmental sciences and economics at the Helsinki University.
